Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef, or a beef and turkey blend
- 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 3/4 cup Freddie Lee's Mild or Spicy all-purpose gourmet sauce, divided
Method
- Heat the oven to 350°F. Line a rimmed sheet pan with parchment or foil.
- Combine the breadcrumbs and milk in a large bowl. Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add the meat, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 cup of sauce. Mix gently just until combined.
- Shape into a free-form loaf about 9 inches long. Bake for 35 minutes.
- Brush the remaining sauce over the top and sides of the loaf.
- Bake for 20 to 25 more minutes, until the center reaches 160°F for all-beef meatloaf, or 165°F if using any turkey. Check with a food thermometer; the glaze should be set.
- Rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve extra sauce at the table if desired.
